Our managers are challenged to constantly ask themselves: “How can we make sure that people will want to work here?” They use this as a guideline in promoting a healthy and safe work environment.

  • Springfield participates in outreach efforts to attract veterans for employment. About 20% of our workforce is made up of veterans. 
  • Bi-weekly safety meetings are held. Man-lifts and hoists are purchased to make the work place as safe as possible.
  • A safety meeting is held on location at the onset of each project where safety concerns specific to that job are discussed.
  • Drivers of company vehicles must perform a safety inspection before driving any company vehicle.
  • Employees receive training in CPR, First Aid, and Asbestos Abatement.
  • Ongoing education is provided to our employees in new and related fields.

Terry Umlor
President

As a graduate of Traverse City High School, Terry returned to his hometown area after college and military service because of his regard for the region and the people who live here. He brings over 30 years of construction experience along with a commitment to provide guaranteed solutions to roofing problems while exceeding customer expectations. Terry is married and has six children, two still at home. He enjoys his volunteer leadership through Michigan 4-H Outdoor Adventure Challenge Club. He also enjoys his family, and is an avid outdoorsman.


Terri Jo Umlor
Vice President
Terri Jo partners with company managers and CEO to assist with decision making regarding human resourses, marketing, public relations, accounting and financial planning. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor University. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, reading, and spending as much time possible with her family.


Jim Kehrer
Director of Sales

Jim joined Springfield Commercial Roofing in 2002 as Sales Manager. He has extensive construction sales experience and a Bachelors degree in Business Management from Saginaw Valley State University. Prior to joining Springfield, Jim held various sales and management positions with Duro-Last Roofing Company in Saginaw, Michigan. In addition to his education and experience, Jim brings a strong commitment to permanently solving customer’s roofing problems with methods that are time tested and guaranteed. Jim believes an informed customer makes good business decisions. He is willing to take the time needed to explain and educate building owners and facility managers so that they may make informed decisions about their buildings. Jim is married and has a young son. A former college football player, Jim plays Rugby for the Traverse City Blues in his spare time. He and his wife have been instrumental in forming the youth Rugby program in Traverse City.

Zach Cole,E.I.T.
Sales/Design

Zach earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Tech in May 2006. He possesses additional certifications in digital thermography and capitance testing. Zach’s talent lies in his thorough understanding of the latest in scanning technology. He uses these advanced tools to find energy loss problems and engineer money saving solutions. In his spare time, Zach enjoys hunting, fishing, and hiking.

Deb Barnhart
Accounting and Human Resources Manager

Deb manages all aspects of the accounting department and human resources for Springfield Inc.  She graduated from Traverse City High School and has worked in accounting since 1997.  Deb and her husband live in Kingsley where they are active in their church.  They have four children (all hockey players, including their daughter!).

Nick Jacqmain
Service Manager/Consultant

Nick joined the Springfield team in the fall of 2009 as a Sales Consultant and is now the Service Manager.  Nick strives to make the Service Department operate as smoothly as possible so that the customer can enjoy a leak free environment.  Prior to joining Springfield, Nick was the Director of Ticketing for the Traverse City Beach Bums professional baseball team.  Nick graduated from Central Michigan University in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management and Business Administration.  He is originally from Freeland, MI and enjoys hunting in the U.P with family and friends.  He recently got engaged to Audrey Thwing and the two are set to get married in the summer of 2011.

Robert Powers
Field Manager

Rob serves as our field manager. Rob makes sure our crews provide the highest quality of workmanship with the least amount of disruption to the building owner. As a customer, you can be assured that Rob will “take care of it.” His construction expertise and experience along with his management skills allow him to coordinate projects and accommodate customer’s need along with solving any “on the job” technical issues that may occur.


Ryan Wurtz, E.I.T.
Sales/Design

Ryan just recently received his degree in civil engineering from Western Michigan University in April of 2009. With his mind for detail and amibition to contribute to energy conservation, Ryan plans to be a major asset to the Springfield Team. Ryan spends his free time on the water, playing baseball, and farming.


Tony Dell'Acqua
Sales/Consultant

Originally growing up in Traverse City and graduating from St. Francis High School. Tony brings years of sales, marketing and development experience to Springfield. Living and working in major markets across the nation, as a project manager/ consultant in development and construction to the wireless industry. Tony is married and has four children. He is a veteran of the Army, serving as a combat medic and was honored being selected twice to the All-Army and combined services rugby select sides. Tony attended NMC and received an AGS and is certified in multiple motivational and sales seminars. He has held a real estate license and is a certified appraiser. He enjoys his family, music and rugby, playing for 20 years and involved with 8 clubs before taking up coaching the past 4 years for the Traverse Bay Blues.


Michele LeMieux
Business Manager
Michele joined the Springfield team late summer of 2009. Previously, she worked at the Traverse City Beach Bums as the Director of Promotions & Community Relations. Michele graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Marketing. She is married to David LeMieux, an elementary school teacher.
